Spencer F. Toole is a Partner at LDDC and a senior litigator whose practice is focused on residential tenancy law, condominium law, civil and commercial litigation, and appellate advocacy.

Spence earned his J.D. from Bond University Law School, obtained his Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation in 2010, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2012.

Spence is a trusted advisor and formidable advocate for residential landlords, condominium corporations, property managers, and other housing-sector clients. He is known for his aggressive, strategic, and determined advocacy, and for his ability to advance his clients’ interests in complex, high-stakes disputes. In one notable decision, the court observed that he pulled “above his weight as a solicitor.”¹

Spence has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, including the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, and the Court of Appeal, as well as before administrative tribunals such as the Landlord and Tenant Board, the Condominium Authority Tribunal, and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. He has served as lead counsel in a number of precedent-setting decisions involving residential tenancy and condominium law.
